Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-16
Welcome to Hangul Hangout ("we," "us," "our," or the "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Hangul Hangout website, mobile experience, and related services.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. About Us
Hangul Hangout is operated by:
| Business name | Jinsung Joo (individual business) |
| Business registration number | 893-10-02883 |
| Representative | Jinsung Joo |
| Contact | hangulhangout@gmail.com |
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your country of residence, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You must provide accurate information during signup (email, nickname, role).
- One person may not maintain more than one account for the purpose of evading restrictions, bans, or usage limits.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Roles: Learners and Hosts
Hangul Hangout has two account roles:
- Learners join chat rooms, take the AI level check, and participate in conversations.
- Hosts create and moderate chat rooms on topics of their choosing.
Hosts are independent participants, not employees, agents, or representatives of Hangul Hangout. Hosts are responsible for the content they post and the way they run their rooms, subject to Section 6 below.
5. Subscriptions and Payment
(This section applies once paid plans are enabled. Until then, all features described as paid are not yet active.)
- Certain features (chat room access, live drop-in sessions, full learning materials) require a paid subscription ("Hangout Plan").
- Subscription fees are billed on a recurring basis (monthly, unless otherwise stated) through our payment processor.
- Prices are shown in the currency and amount displayed at checkout, inclusive or exclusive of applicable taxes as noted at that time.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. See our Refund Policy for details on refunds.
- We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise unlawful.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Use the Service to advertise or solicit for unrelated commercial products or services.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, security features, or access controls.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service except through officially supported integrations (e.g. the Hangul Hangout MCP integration, where enabled).
- Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
We may remove content, suspend access to a chat room, or terminate accounts that violate this section, at our discretion.
7. Content You Post
You retain ownership of the text, voice messages, and images you post ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant Hangul Hangout a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service (for example, showing your messages to other members of a chat room).
You are solely responsible for your User Content and confirm that you have the right to share it.
8. Direct Transactions Outside the Platform
Hangul Hangout is designed to connect learners and hosts within the platform. We ask that scheduling, payment, and communication related to lessons or sessions stay within the Service where possible, so that both parties benefit from review history, dispute support, and platform protections. Sharing contact information to arrange lessons entirely outside the platform is discouraged and may affect your standing (e.g. loss of Founding Partner benefits, priority matching, or platform fee waivers), at our discretion.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior, or if required by law.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. Sections 7, 10, 11) will continue to apply.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular learning outcome will result from using it. Hangul Hangout does not verify the professional credentials of Hosts beyond what is stated on their profile, and interactions with Hosts are at your own discretion.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hangul Hangout and its representative shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three (3) months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the Service or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence provides otherwise.
