Refund Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-16
Note: Payment processing is not yet active on Hangul Hangout. This policy describes how refunds will work once subscription billing is enabled.
1. Free Plan
The Explorer plan is free and not subject to any charge or refund.
2. Hangout Plan (subscription)
- You may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial subscription charge, no questions asked.
- Refund requests for renewal charges (i.e. your subscription auto-renewed) will be honored if the request is made within 48 hours of the renewal charge.
- Outside these windows, refunds are not available for the current billing period, except where required by applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence.
- To cancel your subscription and prevent future charges, you can do so anytime from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period (no partial refund for the unused remainder unless covered by the conditions above).
- We may decline repeated refund requests that show a pattern of abuse (e.g. subscribing, using the service, and requesting a refund on a recurring basis) — see Section 5.
3. Fluent (1-on-1) Sessions
- If you cancel a booked 1-on-1 session more than 24 hours before the scheduled time, you will receive a full refund or credit toward a future session, at your choice.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled session, or no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, except in cases of tutor no-show or a verified technical failure on our end.
- If a tutor cancels or does not show up, you will receive a full refund or the option to rebook at no additional cost.
4. How to Request a Refund
Email hangulhangout@gmail.com with:
- The email address associated with your account
- The plan or session you're requesting a refund for
- The reason for your request
We aim to process eligible refund requests within 5–10 business days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Paddle, our payment processor.
5. Exceptions
We reserve the right to deny refund requests that show a pattern of abuse (e.g. repeated subscribe-use-refund cycles) or where the request is made significantly after the eligibility windows above, except where local law requires otherwise.
6. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
